Due to number of request from the NEM research community, the NEM Summit 2012 Programme Committee decided to extend paper submission deadline until 31 May 2012!

NEM Summit 2012 – “Implementing Future Media Internet towards New Horizons” – Istanbul, Turkey; 16-18 October 2012

NEM Initiative, the Networked and Electronic Media European Technology Platform, is organising the fifth edition of its main annual conference NEM Summit 2012 in Istanbul (Turkey) on 16-18 October 2012. Building on successful previous Summit editions, this NEM Summit will address various issues, such as research and business challenges, societal and user needs, implementation requirements, regulatory and standardisation environment, etc., related to the Implementation of the Future Media Internet towards New Horizons.

Programme of the NEM Summit 2012 will consist of a number of key notes and invited talks, an exhibition focused on presentation of research results in the NEM area achieved by various projects and organisations, three Scientific and Technical Summit Tracks, as well as an Application and Experimentation Summit Track. In order to collect relevant contributions from wide NEM community on Scientific and Technical as well as Application and Experimentation Summit Tracks, the NEM Summit 2012 Programme Committee is issuing the following

CALL FOR PAPERS (full version in PDF format available in the attachment)

The NEM Summit 2012 will have the following three Scientific and Technical Tracks:

New Digital Media Content – Generation, Transmission, and Consumption
New Networked Media Experience
New Connected Media Worlds

All stakeholders of networked and electronic media are invited to submit scientific and technical papers addressing topics defined within the NEM Summit Tracks, which are described below. The submissions should present original work, innovative ideas, and achieved results. Besides contributions to the three Summit Tracks, mentioned above, all further valuable scientific and technical contributions addressing relevant NEM research topics, as defined in the NEM Strategic Research Agenda (last version – 8.0 – available on the NEM Initiative website – www.nem-initiative.org), will be considered by the Programme Committee as well.

Besides the Scientific and Technical Tracks, the NEM Summit 2012 will also provide the floor for talks on innovative applications or related business models, in particular considering specific issues related to SME’s, in the scope of its

Application and Experimentation Track,

where all stakeholders of networked and electronic media are invited to submit descriptions of new and innovative applications and experimentation in the NEM area. The submissions should also present original work, innovative ideas, and results, including description of on-going activities and development of related products, services, and applications for increasing the competitiveness.

Important Dates and Submission Guidelines

Submission deadline: 31 May 2012
Acceptance notification: 16 July 2012
Deadline for final papers: 1 October 2012

Call for workshops at the 2012 NEM Summit

The NEM Summit welcomes co-located workshops organised by EU-funded projects and other initiatives. Such workshops are welcome to take place during the thematic sessions of the NEM Summit. The conditions for the organisation of co-located workshops are detailed below.

The NEM Summit provides:

the workshop room (value: 500 euros)
promotion of the workshop through the NEM Summit website
handling of registrations
an exhibition booth for the workshop organiser (value: 500 euros)
five passes for the workshop organisers (value: 1975 euros)
visibility similar to the NEM Summit Silver sponsors for the workshop organisers (commercial price: 3000 euros)

In return, the workshop organiser commits to pay a lump sum of 2975 euros. Interested projects are invited to contact us.

Call for exhibition at the 2012 NEM Summit

NEM Summits provide a key opportunity to research laboratories, companies and other organisations addressing the area of networked & electronic media, to exhibit their developments and results and thus be in a position to more intensely interact with event delegates.

R&D projects funded under the FP7 programme of the European Commission (or other related programmes), addressing network and electronic media technologies and ICT at large are offered the opportunity to exhibit at cost at the 2012 NEM Summit. Projects are proposed a special package, offered at 1300 euros, including the exhibition booth, two delegate passes, and a visibility similar to the NEM Summit Silver sponsors (see the sponsor section of the NEM Summit website). Interested projects are invited to contact us.

The 2012 NEM Summit moves to Istanbul

The NEM Initiative is very pleased to announce today that following the NEM Steering Board meeting held earlier today in Istanbul in Turk Telekom’s premises, Istanbul has been selected to be the host city for the 2012 NEM Summit, to be held on October 15-18, 2012.

The 2012 NEM Summit will benefit from the support of Turk Telekom, Tubitak and key Turkish players in the field of networked electronic media, Future Internet and ICT at large.
