Tecnalia Technology Corporation joins as a Gold Sponsor

tecnalia_SmallTecnalia is a Technology Corporation that emerged as a strategic alliance between 8 technology centres, and operates as a private and independent foundation. Tecnalia is structured around 19 multidisciplinary business units.

The business units are organized around six broad thematic areas including:

  • Information and Communication Technologies (Infotech, Software and Telecom)
  • Health and Quality of Life
  • Industrial (Industrial Systems, Iron and Steel, Foundry, Aerospace and Automotive)
  • Natural Resources (Foodstuffs, Agricultural Innovation, Marine research, Environment and Natural Resources)
  • Sustainable Development (Energy, Building, Urban and Industrial Environment)
  • Innovation and Competitiveness (Innovation Systems, Information Society)

Participation in the consecutive Framework Programmes has been increasing steadily. EC contribution amounted for €28.5M (137 projects) in FP5, €38,6M (172 projects) in FP6 and for the first 3 years of FP7 the amount is €37M. Tecnalia holds number one position among Spanish participants in the Framework Programmes. It participates in 122 projects including 20 positions as project coordinator in FP7. Participation in external cooperation programmes is less significant compared to the FP activities. The external cooperation activities have been focused mainly on construction (conservation of historical heritage) and on primary sectors e.g. fisheries.

In addition to participation in collaborative projects Tecnalia’s international activities include representations on five continents:

  • Europe: France, Italy, Bulgaria, Germany and Serbia further to 12 locations in Spain
  • North America: West Virginia – US
  • South America: Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina
  • Africa: Egypt
  • Asia: Shanghai, China
  • Australia: Melbourne Australia
